Rick's Story

From 90% to 100% Permanent & Total in Just 45 Days

The Situation

Rick had already been awarded a 90% VA disability rating, but he believed his disabilities were more severe than the VA had recognized. For nearly two years, he fought for the compensation he believed he had earned.

Like many veterans, Rick eventually hired a VA disability attorney hoping they could help him reach 100%.

Unfortunately, despite attending multiple Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations and waiting months for updates, his claim stalled. Communication became increasingly difficult, and eventually his attorney stopped responding altogether.

Frustrated and feeling abandoned, Rick decided to take control of his claim.

The VetRECCE Review

Rick completed a comprehensive VetRECCE Claim Intelligence Review.

During the review, we identified several opportunities that had not been fully developed, including:

Radiculopathy affecting multiple extremities

Sleep apnea supported by medical evidence

Additional documentation needed to strengthen his disability picture

Gaps between his medical records and the evidence already submitted to the VA

Rather than filing blindly, Rick submitted a more organized, evidence-driven claim.

The Outcome

Within 45 days, Rick received a new VA decision.

His rating increased from 90% to 100% Permanent & Total.

In addition, he received approximately four months of retroactive compensation, providing immediate financial relief while his new monthly compensation took effect.

Life After 100% P&T

Reaching 100% Permanent & Total changed far more than Rick's monthly VA payment.

His family now has access to benefits including:

CHAMPVA healthcare for eligible dependents

Federal student loan discharge eligibility

State property tax exemption (where applicable)

Additional educational benefits

Expanded federal and state veteran benefits

Greater long-term financial security

Estimated Financial Impact

Rick's combined monthly value from VA compensation and newly available federal and state benefits now exceeds $6,000 per month.

That includes both direct compensation and the financial value of benefits such as healthcare savings, property tax relief, education programs, and other eligible veteran benefits.

Over time, those benefits may represent hundreds of thousands of dollars in lifetime value, depending on personal circumstances and state of residence.

Rick's Thoughts

"I spent two years fighting for what I knew was right. I hired an attorney, went to every exam, and still felt like I was getting nowhere. After I took control of my claim and followed the VetRECCE process, everything finally made sense. Forty-five days later, I was 100% Permanent & Total. I only wish I had found VetRECCE sooner."
